![]() Dean S. LumJudge King County Superior Court Seattle, Washington Hon. Dean S. Lum was appointed to the King County Superior Court in Seattle, Washington by Governor Gary Locke in June 1998, and has served on that court's felony criminal, civil and juvenile court calendars since then. A Seattle native, he is a graduate of Pomona College and the University of Washington School of Law. Upon graduation in 1983, he served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Criminal Division of the King County Prosecutor's Office for six years, trying dozens of felony jurt trials to verdict. From 1990 to 1998, he practiced complex civil litigation in the areas of product and professional liability, insurance coverage and maritime personal injury with Seattle firms of Forsberg & Umlauf, P.S. and Bullivant Houser Bailey. He has been very active in court management, having served as the chair of the King County Superior Court Education and Human Relations Committees, having been an active member of the Court's Technology Committee and having served as the Acting Presiding Judge for the King County Regional Justice Center in late 1999. Judge Lum has been very active in bar association and civic activities, and is the King County Bar Association's Representative to the Amercian Bar Association's House of Delegates. He lectures frequently in the areas of trial practice, insurance coverage and legal ethics, and has been active in promoting public education and outreach through the Asian Bar Association of Washington's (ABAW's) International District Neighborhood Legal Clinic and establishing ABAW's and the Court's web pages. |
